An Idea…

We like our walks and especially our long distance walks. There had been a planned walk across Scotland in 2020.

After the UK was shut down to us because of Covid we decided to cast around for an alternative. Like most people we were surprised at how long the pandemic took to play out, but on the up side that allowed us to filter our ideas and finally expand on the favourite. Initially we were thinking of doing the Pennine Way, through the backbone of England and into Scotland.

The final part of the Pennine Way is a little scrappy and ends in the middle of nowhere. How about we turn right at Hadrian’s Wall and follow that to Newcastle Upon Tyne – that would be a pretty neat place to finish? But, of course, further North there are the brilliant beaches, castles and harbours of the Northumbrian coastline – and Lindisfarne. And if we’re going that far we might as well finish in Edinburgh.

I wonder if you can walk to the start of the Pennine Way from London? Yes, you can. Its mostly well established long distance paths and with a bit of thought they can be joined together.

Here’s an idea – what about we walk from London to Edinburgh. Let’s say, Big Ben to Edinburgh Castle.
